Thoroughly enjoyable - a must read for all dog lovers October 15, 2008 L. Horn (Maine) All dog lovers will find themselves nodding and smiling as they read, thinking of similar events with their own pets over the years. John does a great job mixing humor and poignancy (he does a great job narrating the audio book as well) and making this a delightful read.
Perky, heartwarming and unreadable. September 17, 2008 Superfly (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book on an impulse after hearing Hurley interviewed on Fresh Air. He is far less amusing in print than on the radio. I was going to give the book as a present but realized after reading the first chapter that I'd be embarrassed to be endorsing the thing. Well if you are the sort of person that is eagerly awaiting Chicken Soup for the Soul Volume 98 (what number are they on now?!) you might love this book but if perky, heartwarming drivel doesn't do it for you, steer clear.
Great easy read July 3, 2008 Rachel A. Long (Northern NJ) I loved this book. I don't read alot outside of work, but I really enjoyed this endearing book. I highly recommend it for all dog lovers!
Doggy Wisdom Extraordinaire May 27, 2008 Emily D. Agunod (East Coast United States) Mr. O'Hurley is a talented writer and his observations on life through the eyes of dogs are thought-provoking. They made a lot of sense. And it's so funny. I think it's also touching that he wrote about the different dogs he had in his life and what they have taught him. The book is very encouraging and just like the title says, it's okay to miss the bed on the first jump.

I started to read the first few chapters, but lost interest in it after that.
